Hi, Hello, How do you do?!
I’m Carmen, the caffeine addicted, early-thirty-something, work-from-home woman who is running things behind the scenes here at The Awesome Woman Project: a lifestyle blog about the best things in life — food and travel!
I graduated from University at Buffalo in December of 2010, and soon after, I started my first blog called Adventures of The Triple B’s. The experience led me into a career in digital marketing and specifically influencer marketing.
I spent several years working at an agency with some of the most creative food bloggers, who made me realize, that despite my insistence that I would NEVER write about food, I should write about food! It was always one of my favorite niches to work with, so who was I to resist?!
I recently stopped working to transition my kids into our new house, a lovely home that we have deemed the pot house.
**Keep your eye out for the launch of my second blog called Hello Again Home sometime in 2018 which will go into the adventures of home renovation, DIY projects, and home décor.**
During the transition from working to move prep, I decided to re-route The Awesome Woman Project from being a self-discovery mission revolving around goal setting to a lifestyle blog that talks about the best things in life: food and travel!
I would include more about my family (three boys and a husband), but they made me pinky promise not to. Darn family.
Any who, let’s talk about Food That Soothes The Soul
What does that mean?! Oh, friend! Food that soothes the soul is anything that I think tastes amazing! Just check out this >>page<<. It’s mostly unhealthy, comforting, sugary things, but I do lighten it up with salads, soups, and sandwiches when I feel like my favorite pants are getting a little too tight.
I was trained to cook in my grandmother’s kitchen when I was a kid, and have been messing up recipes ever since!
Honestly, I am a pretty good cook, but on occasion I forget to set my timer, and consequently have to figure out how to fix overdone carrots. It happens to the best of us! 😂
So, not only will you find recipes that you can use for family dinners, entertaining, and to get your comfort food fix, but you’ll find tips for how to fix the things that you may have accidentally messed up.
Hey, even Julia Child was an imperfectly perfect cook!
When I am not writing, cooking, taking photos, marketing the blog, and continuing my studies in the digital marketing realm, I am traveling!
Y’all, I could talk about travel all day! The travel bug has always been a part of me. My parents took me all over the country, as well as to Europe and Canada before I turned 18. After that, I met and married the love of my life, who happened to be military. Lucky me! We spent the next ten years driving across the country (three times total), while taking long and out of the way detours to see places that people along the way told me about. Thanks, truck stop people! You’re the best!
We finally settled down when I turned 30, and we moved back home to California. Now, we try to travel the state whenever we can, because there is so much to see and do here in the Golden State! Also, we are trying to save for our next adventure…a condo by Lake Tahoe (a girl can dream, haha).
Life is good, y’all! << —– we lived in Texas, and while I no longer pronounce the word oil as ‘ol, the word y’all has stuck for life!
Travel teaches you SO many new kinds of things! It’s the best.
Now that my novel is done, I want to know about you!
If you have a minute, tell me something cool about youself like:
- If you won the lottery, what would you do, where would you go, and what would you eat?!
- If you could buy anything in the entire world, what would it be?!
- If you could have a super power, what super power would you choose and why?
Are you still with me?! Yay!
