Hi! Welcome to The Awesome Woman Project – a lifestyle blog about living your passion. Here at The Awesome Woman Project (AWP for short), we are passionate about many things – cooking, traveling, goal setting, and interviewing awesome women. We are lovers of all things bright, colorful, bold and beautiful. (Learn more about our history and mission –> here.)

Who is the Voice of AWP?
That would be me! I am Carmen, the creative, caffeine addicted thirty-something-year-old woman who is running everything behind the scenes. It’s a pleasure to meet you!
I live in Sacramento, California with my family – 3 boys and a husband – all four are lovers of all things Star Wars, Legos, video games, grilling and sports (the hubby is a Giants fanatic– you can definitely expect to hear some stories about his die-hard fandom).
Want to know a little bit more about me?
I am intensely passionate about food – specifically food that is simple to make but makes me look like a rock star (really, I am just trying not to burn the house down, but that’s our little secret). When I find something that makes me smile you can expect to hear ALL about it here on AWP.
Things that make me smile are: creative ways to use leftovers, all things chocolate, comfort food, flavorful veggies that make me forget that I am eating veggies, and anything that let’s me use what I buy at the Farmer’s Market. I am a HUGE fan of farm fresh food. I also love spices, cheese and bread. Thank God for the gym!!
Travel makes me smile, too. Did you say that you went to Spain?! OMG, I have always wanted to go! I know I said travel makes me smile, but that’s an understatement. I live to travel. Did you know that one of my life goals is to visit every state in the USA?! I only have 20 more to go. In the meantime, though, I am focusing on California – I am falling back in love with the golden state after having lived on the East Coast and in the Southwest for almost all of my 20’s. When I am not in Sacramento, you can most likely find me somewhere in the San Francisco Bay Area – that’s where all of our family lives.
I have a deep passion for talking to people about how they have accomplished their goals. I am highly curious and process oriented, which makes learning from others a lot of fun for me. That’s where interviewing Awesome Women comes into play. I have been blessed with knowing many women who are doing amazing, meaningful things – they are courageously living their passions, working to better their communities, and reinventing themselves as they learn about who they are. These are the women who we can (and should) learn from.
